I thought this thread might be useful for those newly thrust into the world of roleplaying. There are a lot of acronyms that get tossed around in roleplaying and I figured that a brief introduction to this was in order.
What IS roleplaying? Roleplaying is where you basically write or act out a story with other people - wherein you play/write a certain character's "role," from which the phrase gets its name of course. This website has text-based roleplaying. Roleplaying is DIFFERENT from fanfictions, which may be confused. Fanfictions are STORIES written based on a series already created. Thus, the fiction of a fan.
So what's RP mean? Just an acronym for role playing.
What does OOC mean? OOC means out of character. Regular conversations and non-roleplay is what this is.
IC? That means in character. When you're roleplaying, you're in character.
What is LARPing? LARP is live-action role playing. For instance, two friends meet up and roleplay their characters out loud, as themselves.
